A jury awarded former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura $1.8 million on Tuesday in his lawsuit against the estate of “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle.

On the sixth day of deliberations, the federal jury decided that the author of the 2012 best-selling book defamed Ventura in its description of a bar fight in California in 2006. Kyle, regarded as the deadliest military sniper in U.S. history, wrote that he decked a man whom he later identified as Ventura after the man allegedly said the Navy SEALs “deserve to lose a few.”

Ventura testified that Kyle fabricated the passage about punching him. Kyle said in testimony videotaped before his death last year that his story was accurate. …

Well since the lying SOB still claims to be a Seal himself, when it is a well established fact he was not a Navy Seal, he needs to be busted in his lying mouth.

Ventura regularly attended SEAL reunions and was even presented with an award at one. He was also a guest speaker at a BUD/S graduation ceremony while he was governor. There’s no way that would have happened if he was falsely claiming to be a SEAL.

Here’s what Brandon Webb, a former SEAL who isn’t fond of Ventura, wrote on the subject.

Ventura was an underwater demolition man who never served in combat. HE WAS NOT A SEAL. He attended Seal conventions because Underwater Demolition members are allowed to attend them. Eight years after Ventura left the Navy UDT were cross-trained into the Seals. Here’s a clip where he talks about going to Vietnam as a Seal. He never served in Vietnam and now admits it.

Here’s Chris Kyle talking about decking him.

If the SEALs thought he was misrepresenting himself, he never would have been allowed to attend those conventions, much less honored by them and by Naval Special Warfare.

Here’s what Brandon Webb, a former Navy SEAL who has no fondness for Ventura, said. I can find plenty of other similar statements by former SEALS:

I’ve heard the speculation and gossip about Jesse Ventura’s Navy SEAL status and wanted to set the record straight. Jesse Ventura graduated with Basic Underwater Demolition Class 58 and, like it or not, he earned his status. Some say he’s a UDT (Underwater Demolition Team), and not a “SEAL,” but that’s bullshit.

Others have seen the flaw in this analogy, and mentioned in private SEAL forums, “try telling that to a WWII UDT veteran who swam ashore before the landing craft on D-Day.” The UDT’s and SEALs are essentially one and the same. It’s why the UDT is still part of the training acronym BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL).

Like it or not, Jesse Ventura is a Navy SEAL. He did the pushups and put up with the cold water, just like the rest of us.
