A Twin Cities man, already bloodied from one home invasion in far northern Minnesota, repeated the crime down the highway minutes later and attacked a 72-year-old woman before the victims son stepped in saying he did what had to be done and fatally shot the suspect, authorities said Monday.
The shooting occurred about 6 a.m. Saturday outside the house along Hwy. 53, roughly 4 miles east of Ray, Minn., according to the Koochiching County Sheriffs Office.
Im the son who did what had to be done, said Brad Himes, 48, who came to the rescue of his mother, Ethel, and shot Benjamin Beaudoin, 34, of Mendota Heights with a handgun.
Brad Himes said the family had never before seen Beaudoin, whose was in that part of the state to attending a wedding.
The son said his mother came through the incident fine physically, and were doing the best we can to get by. Bad things happen. We just want to get over it.
County Attorney Jeff Naglosky said his office has been briefed about the shooting and declined to say anything more as he awaits investigatory reports from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the St. Louis County medical examiners office.

Big ol’ boy...
There should be a “mess with my Mom law” that excuses deadly force.
Don’t be an idiot.
Nice target on his sternum
It is incorrect. It is a construct of the latter-day PC crowd who do not want to “offend” us women by requiring one sex or other when speaking singularly. It does not offend me to assume “he” instead of “they”.
Nice shootin’, Tex.
Not in actual English. Only in Leftspeak. The adoption of Leftspeak by conservatives affects their thinking. Words and grammar are the tools by which the brain thinks about things. Turn over the design of words and grammar to the Borg and you gradually lose your ability to think outside their box. You accept their definitions and conventions when you use their shorthand.
When MSM collectively switched the politically symbolic colors, red and blue, conservatives accepted it with hardly a whimper. Now the color designations have lost their meaning altogether. The left's proud use of Red to designate the totalitarian left once told people a lot about certain groups without having to parse speech and listen to all of it to see if it added up. Bit by bit I see the conservatives on FR adopt the patterns prescribed by the Left. The omnisexual "they" is a feminist construction to keep it in our minds that there is NO difference between males and females. I suspect if you reverted to the proper use of pronouns you would feel very uncomfortable not using at least "he/she-him/her" or maybe it should be "she/he"- you don't want the ladies to think you are dissing them.
Not using language correctly is an indication of sloppy thinking. Using the new forms prescribed by the left is an indication that another front has fallen to the collectivists and they define the words and grammar and you think with their meanings that are subject to change instantly so that what you think you said was muddled from the beginning and becomes its opposite at the next redefinition.
Good for you on the grammar front.
There aren’t many of us remaining up here.
Good communication is the enemy of lies and deception, of course, and indeed of oppression. The other side (Obama and his minions, leftist politicians and judges, the ‘educators’) knows this and has worked for decades now to put us at a disadvantage.
Clear speech and clear thinking are as dangerous to them as any firearm.
>> Not using language correctly is an indication of sloppy thinking.
Of course, the run-on sentence with which you followed that one doesn’t count against *you*. Does it?
Like I said — don’t be an idiot. The poster in no way used the word “they” as a sop to the collectivist left — and you know it. You just enjoy being an arrogant jackass.
Hey, lookie here! Instead of merely taking y’all’s pedantic word for it, I actually RESEARCHED IT! And it seems you’re on somewhat shaky ground:

My favorite retort: “Singular they”: God said it, I believe it, that settles it. http://itre.cis.upenn.edu/~myl/languagelog/archives/003572.html
Gee, that doesn’t sound all that collectivist leftist to me!
The downtrodden and the mentally challenged . . . look at their current governor and former U.S.Senator.
Now for the callous part. If you must be the shooter, earnestly try and shoot so the shootee can have nothing to say.
Body-builder steroids?
My inner Grammar Nazi requires me to point out that “Like I said” should be “As I said.” ;)
Obviously doctors didn’t catch the problem, so his family probably had some warning signs, but that’s about it. His most obvious symptom was severe migraines. About 6% of American men have migraines (about 18% of women). So it’s not enough.
The paranoia is possibly more diagnostic, but as a condition itself, which could be by itself, or associated with schizophrenia. But that still needs a professional diagnosis early on.
This was probably a bolt from the blue, that nobody saw coming, so nobody did anything to stop it.
Someone did something to stop it. You better believe.
“He graduated from Princeton High School, then received an undergraduate degree in psychology from Bemidji State University.”
I’ll bet Deputy Molly Solverson and Officer Gus Grimly will get to the bottom of this...if they don’t shoot each other first.
Obama Voter?
