Swat teams do serve a purpose...
There are incidents that require their skill sets and training...
They just need to be used rarely and only when all other scenarios cannot work...
Probably about 5 % of current usage...
5% of 50,000 is 2500.
Do you really think there were 2500 incidents in the US this last year justifying SWAT?
If there were, wouldn't you think the powers-that-be would tout them as the system worked
in the War on Terror

With that small amount of usage, many departments could not afford or justify having a team. So, yes, most should be disbanded.
