California man, 80, guns down pregnant home invader: ‘I shot her twice, she best be dead’ Tom Greer killed the woman after she and a man jumped him and robbed his Long Beach house Tuesday night. The couple fled after he showed his revolver, but the woman was killed as she tried to run away. BY SASHA GOLDSTEIN

They came to the wrong house.

An 80-year-old California retiree shot dead a pregnant woman as she and a male accomplice tried to flee Tuesday night after breaking in and robbing the man’s home in Long Beach.

And Tom Greer has no regrets about plugging the woman with two shots as she begged for her life.

“She says, 'Don't shoot me, I'm pregnant! I'm going to have a baby!' And I shot her anyway," Greer told KNBC-TV.

The elderly man, wearing his arm in a sling Wednesday as he spoke to a reporter, said he came back to his house in the ritzy Bixby Knolls neighborhood Tuesday evening and found the woman and a man ransacking his home.

"When I went in there, they tackled me," Greer told the news station. "Both of them jumped up on top of me."

While it has nothing, per se, to do with the 2nd Amendment, an attorney who is anti-2nd Amendment would not work in the man’s best interest.

He could also plead temporary insanity and claim he based his comments after the shooting that he was angry, scared, etc. and that he does not feel that way now.

It sounds like he was not very happy about being jumped and beat
in his own home. Hard to say how fast things happen, but circumstances
do go fast in those situation.

NEVER TALK TO THE POLICE!

Sounds like he is not competent. At least that’s what I would claim if I were his lawyer.

That seems unlikely.

The interview took place the day after. He is lucid, calm and collected as he describes the previous day's events.

He explains how he cleverly fooled the thieves into turning their backs on him, used the ruse to arm himself, and then pursued them.

Everything he told that reporter militates against such an interpretation.

Everything he said will be used to send him to prison. And I have trouble feeling sorry for him.Self-defense and vengeance murder are two different things.

Well stated.

Never argue with an old man. He has very little to lose. He’ll die soon anyway and may be ready to die any time from now. We all eventually get worn out and fed up with “things”.

However, he should keep his comments to himself.

If I were on the old guy’s jury, I’d vote “not guilty.”

He was just taking out the trash. Some people just need to be killed. Viscious home-invaders are at the top of that list.

> Nobody put words in his mouth. He couldn’t shut up about it.

His only hope is an attorney who can get him diagnosed with dementia or temporary insanity. It does say the couple attacked him first in the article.

I guess the anti-gunners are going to distribute this all over the Internet denying the fact that no one would have gotten shot if they’ stayed out of his house and not tried to steal his belongings to probably hawk for drug money.

Dementia can come on gradually and impair judgement before it is readily apparent.

I’m not saying he is demented but if I were a lawyer the first thing I would do is get him evaluated.

In Texas shooting her while she was fleeing would be iffy.

Joe Horn walked in 2007 for killing two men under similar circumstances. But I think California does take a dimmer view of this.

And we can thank him for that.

It was a great 2A story - elderly man chases off two burglars simply by displaying his firearm - until he chased after them, firing.

I'm just glad that the shot he randomly fired down the street into the darkness at the fleeing burglar didn't go through a window and hit an innocent person.

Then this story would be even better propaganda for the enemies of the Bill of Rights.

Nonsense, somebody’s on your property uninvited then you can kill them. That’s the kind of respect for life we have around here.
