Unless it’s a police dog and if you kill one it’s the same as if you shot a human cop. But dog’s aren’t cops unless you raise them to the level of a human or tell the cops they are dog equivalents.
I’m confused and reaching out for help. (barf)
All dogs are equal? Or are some dogs more equal than others?
When will they start arming and teaching the dogs to shoot when confronted by people?
Yes, I am being sarcastic but who opened the gate?
The quaint and colorful Somalis belong in the pages of old National Geographics, not in the USA. However, it is good to know they are in Minnesota, as we in Maine have been seeking a place to send ours.
You would think they could get some training from the USPS.
What fun would that be?
They LIKE killing dogs.
It’s a national epidemic.
A Cane Corso is similar to a Mastiff, often with black Labrador markings. It is a muscular dog, used both for self defense and hunting. Truthfully, seeing a 120 pound dog like that running at you, and you have a gun, you might get off a shot or two if it is attacking you. If you don’t take the shots, you could be severely injured or killed.
Yes, I like dogs. And I like big dogs. But if you want to keep them alive, they must always be under control. As soon as you lose that control, for whatever reason, their lives can be forfeit.
Bingo.
Aside from the poor dead doggie and the owners affections for it.....
These breeds cost lots of money. Police are destroying expensive private property.
Give as you get........... X3.
The decision to shoot, or harm, an animal is not made lightly, but at times must be made immediately. Officers have no way of knowing the history of the animal, or what the animal may do,
Thats in in a nutshell. When in doubt, they will kill your dog. Simple as that. They got the power.
This has GOT to stop!!!
Not important and really irrelevant.
The dog would have been shot regardless of breed. I doubt if the average Minnesota flat foot even heard of a cane corso.
The decision comes far sooner...are they going to chase misdemeanor criminals through people's yards or go on highspeed car chases for non-violent criminal offenses?
Cane coursos (sp?), like Pit Bulls, can be decent dogs in the right hands. That said, a loose 120 lb Cane courso is a rather unnerving sight and poorly trained they can be people aggressive. Hard to blame the cop for this one.
The cops who murder innocent dogs are either Cowards or Sadistic SOB’s.. or Both!
Of course you would!
I can blame them.
First thing the cop said to the dog owner was , “This is what we do and I’d do it again”.
He’s still waiting on an apology from anyone except the suspect.
I’ve heard waaaay too many statements from people I know about how nice their dogs are and they wouldn’t hurt a flea, while the dog is looking at me with stiff legs, hackles raised and lowered head. I love dogs, but I also pay attention to dog behavior and many owners do not. Cane Coursos are what Cesar Milan would call a gladiator breed, very dangerous if not well trained.
So, in my view this is the unfortunate result of a loose dog (not the owners fault nor the cops)
Unjustified dog death by cop is rampant and very concerning, but I don’t think this is one of them.
