YUBA CITY (CBS13) A Facebook page created to criticize people about their weight is generating controversy in the Yuba-Sutter region.
530 Fatties appears to be created by someone who lives within the local 530 area code, and featured photos of overweight or obese people in public without their permission. With those photos are words mocking the subjects weight.
The page was taken down at some point on Monday after CBS13 began looking into it after several people reached out to us.
Jessi Lynn Howell, 18, is still mortified after discovering a picture of herself posted on 530 Fatties.

Some doc was ranting on the radio yesterday about his going up to a guy in the grocery store and telling him about all the bad things that were in his grocery cart. Listened for quite a while hoping they would have a phone number to call in but they didn’t give one and it’s no wonder. Just nobody’s business what I have in my grocery cart unless they notice all the ice cream and want to know which flavor we prefer.
There is nothing wrong with shaming people who engage in self-destructive or antisocial behavior. Whether that behavior involves overeating, sodomy, promiscuity, voting Democrat, or something else.
This is how societies have enforced their mores for thousands of years.
exactly!
I disagree with this. There is no reason, other than cruelty, to post pictures of fat people online on a ridicule website. We can talk all we want about how heavy people should lose weight and should not eat as much or exercise, but that is not a reason to publicly ridicule them. They aren’t hurting anyone by being fat.
What about people of Wal Mart? Does that site get permission to post peoples unflattering pictures there??? What are the laws or regulations for this sort of thing???
I heard they ate that dog.
Served him with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
Back when I smoked I had a few great fat pigs try to admonish me for doing so.
I politely pointed out that they were not only great fat pigs but also hypocrites.
Shut’em right up it did to.
[If, however, these peoples pics were posted at People of Walmart, then thatd be OK. (Its a JOKE, son)]
Just the other day I was in the checkout line at our local Wallyworld. Directly in front of me was a father with what looked like about a 7 year old son. Just in front of them was a huge lady with a posterior that wouldn’t quit. Her cell phone went off giving off a series of BEEP, BEEP, BEEP’S.
The son suddenly said, “look out Dad, she’s backing up”.
For all of us who heard the above, it made our day.
now we just pass law to do all that.
bigger gubmint is better gubmint, comrades!
i think People of Walmart is no longer on the web.
One reason most public assistance is wrong is that it provides people with an “acceptable” excuse to despise and wish to control others.
If it makes you feel better, don’t think of your tax dollars as (possibly) paying for pretty young Jessi’s medical care. Think of them as paying for a state college professor of Queer and Transgendered Studies or Barack Obama’s salary.
(Unless you have an astoundingly high income, you’re not paying anything like enough taxes to cover either of those.)
cacomorphobia - A fear of fat or obese people, not a hatred or dislike. Literally terrified of being around a fat person without a rational reason.
Being a skinny fella, fat ppl do bother me somewhat, but a fat democrat causes my head to explode...just kidding on that last part.
Only on TV.
Barbara Mikulski would be dreadful even if she was thin ... see Nancy Pelosi.
I don’t know anything about the young woman pictured except that I think she’s pretty, even though she’s fat. If she decides she doesn’t want to be fat, Weight Watchers works for anyone who consistently follows the plan.
However, weight loss doesn’t change a bad person into a good one, and weight gain doesn’t change a good person into a bad one.
I have noticed many times that many fat, dumpy men won’t have a chubby or fat mate. No, they want 8s or 9s. It’s weird.
Did you not click through to the article? She had already lost 50 pounds from when that photo was taken.
