“Space 1999”

I tried to get into 1999, and even though the special effects were arguably much better, the stories just bored me to tears. I thought I might have been for the fact that I was little more than a toddler when "UFO" and the "Space 1999" came out, but in reviewing both well into adulthood, the former has a 'espionage' element and more dynamic and believable characters than the latter.

A casual bing search brought me to this: http://ufo-themovie.com/shado/

I hope it's true.

I agree. 1999 did bog down in lots of blah, blah, blah.

Reminds me later of ST: Boreager and ST: Deep Snore Nine!

Yes, I loved Shado as a Bond like thing while 1999 eventually just became Lost In Space. OH! New place to explore.

Space 1999 lost Me when, in typical brit fashion, they decided to invent some 'magical' themes to insert into the storylines, such as the "alien" girl being able to somehow change herself into other creatures as the plot required.

Not to mention that the shabbily-done "creatures" (on either side) were not at all believable.

Plus, the special effects really lacked in technical expertise. Seeing an actor jump sideways before the special effects light beam even reached half-way to them really detracted from its believability.

And yeah -it was BORING. Special Effects (*cough*) not withstanding.
