In my profession I retired from I retrieved many odd items from commodes. I can’t remember if a shoe was on the list LOL. Seriously I worked maintenance in nursing homes and the residence {who were not of sound mind} would throw things in them. Rolls of TP was the most common. A shoe? Unless it’s a small kids shoe it won’t flush in any USA commodes not even commercial ones.

I once knew an inmate (I worked for the Dept of Correction) who flushed an entire mattress down the toilet. Probably comes from having too much time on your hands.
