.22 with subsonic rounds max 100yds. Yes, it can be an effective sniper rifle.

I fire .22 Aquila SS from my AR conversion and the clack of the bolt is louder
than the round. Quieter than a cap gun with just the flash suppressor.
Fired from inside a room it would be 100% silent.

Yup ... the 1 in 9 twist works nicely for the Aquila SS 60 grain bullet.
