I have an animals do the craziest things story. Went to Five Guys today and saw a squirrel that was sprawled out on one of their outdoor tables. He looked like he was playing dead, but his eyes were open and he moved slightly now and then. At first, I thought he was spread out like that because someone had fed him too many Five Guys peanuts, but then I watched him and realized he had developed an act to get food out of the customers.

Whenever someone went into the store, he hopped up on the table and got all sprawled out. When someone came out the door, he hopped down from the table, ran to the door, looked up and waited at their feet for food.

He was a mooch. Sprawling out on the table was a ploy to get some sympathetic patron to go get him some peanuts. It worked pretty well. I saw people get up and put a peanut out for him. One guy threw a handful of peanuts and the squirrel would take them one by one to an area of trees and bushes. He probably had his winter stash there. He had himself quite a little gig going there.

At first I thought what a lazy mooch of a squirrel. Then I realized that he had developed the performance on his own, executed it successfully, picked up his pay and even put something away for the future. God had a lesson for all of us right there in this little squirrel.
