I used to get called into work at 2AM and the office was across from the jail downtown. Did I deserve to be robbed?
I don’t think you could reasonably infer that anybody has said she “deserves” to be raped. Simply that if you put yourself in a position where there is an elevated risk of bad things happening, you shouldn’t be surprised when bad things happen.
Years ago I has this same discussion with my mother.
I understand what the argument is - whether a person is ‘asking for it’ by putting themselves in a dangerous position with no common sense.
I put it to my Mom, “What do you think one of your sons would do if they saw a woman walking alone on a dark road at night? Would they rape the woman?” Of course when the topic is put that way, she could easily see that it is nonsense to blame the woman for being attacked.
But let’s look at the topic from a common sense point of view. Not everyone out there, especially at night, is a choir boy. It does behoove all of us to be aware of the dangers and protect ourselves.
Still ultimately, when a person is assaulted the blame lies with the perpetrator.
“Did I deserve to be robbed?”
No; would you be shocked if you were? Do you bear any responsibility at all for where you are at 2 am?
We used papier mâché in my school.
This is not something I can agree with.
And yes, Reilly is a Democrat.
He wanted homemade goo... from boys.
“What you are saying is that people should be inside their homes at 2am and that we should give up the streets to criminals during the evening. This is not something I can agree with.”
Wow; how did you get that?
If you leave your house at 2 PM (never mind AM), you are responsible for yourself. Aren’t you? Or is that my problem?
Well I refuse to accept a society in which people are told not to go out at 2am or they “deserve” to be raped, robbed, or whatnot.

Let me know if you see anyone posting such bile, and I’ll join in your condemnation of them. It is hard enough dealing with posters that have no reading/comprehension skills.
Sex talk is a misnomer, as it could be considered counseling. Sounds like grooming to me.
pro·scribe [ prō skrī́b ]
ban something: to prohibit something that is considered undesirable by those in authority
I think you meant prescribed.
prescribe
lay down rule: to say with authority that a course of action should be taken
Grammar and usage police, signing off!
;^)
Your right “prescribed”
I was at work. Was that a problem? Is going to work bad?
“I was at work. Was that a problem?”
Apparently it was; the location of your work isn’t my problem.
“Is going to work bad?”
It is if you expect a taxpayer-funded armed escort to and from.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Some jokes write themselves. However this is the Publik Skools and that makes it so not funny!
