Via blues show host Holly Harris: "Very sadly we are hearing that Johnny Winter passed away today in Zurich, Switzerland while on tour. Really, really sad news. More details by tomorrow"
Had pleasure of doing a phone int. with him and his band in Feb.--he will be missed; an influence for so many
Wasn’t he a favorite of Jay Severin?
Yes I believe so.
The word I’m getting is from Holly Harris (WUMB Boston) and Jim Carty (New England Blues Society). Wikipedia has July 16, 2014 listed as his date of death. There are celeb death hoaxes and who knows this could be one too but I’m going by what they’re saying as of now.
was he a tall skinny white haired guy on Radio Luxembourg during the late 60’s-early 70s?
Both he and his brother Edgar were born with albinism.
maybe—definitely an albino like his brother Edgar. Tall and thin
A Texas man.
Dang. Wiki already updated.
Here he is playing with some other guy playing bass.
Wow. Sad day if it’s true.
My favorite Johnny Winter song from the 1973 album “Still Alive and Well”
“Rock Me Baby”:

Woodstock alumni and one of the all-time greats, along with his brother, Edgar. Sad news if true. He was due to tour Canada and the USA next week, and releasing a new album and movie?

Was it brother Edgar who did Frankenstein? That was unforgetable. They both peaked early, but may have become involved in heavy drug use, really heavy, such as heroin. Whatever you do, Stay Away from Heroin!
Hendrix on bass.. Now that’s interesting.
Oh, man. Excellent choice.
Sad to see this legend pass.
I’ve been listening to his version of “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo” from the Johnny Winter And album for, oh, well over 40 some odd years now. It still hasn’t gotten old. Rick Derringer’s version is so pale by comparison.
I wanted to tackle Winter’s version in my band workshop a few years back, but the instructor refused, saying it was “too testosterone laden.”
(sigh)
Maybe if I can find finally some other like minded amateur rockers, it can be removed from my growing bucket list.
RIP, Mr. Winter. Thanks for the inspiration, and for decades of musical excellence...

This is sad, I saw him three times over the years. Always a good show.
Bleep, bleep, bleep, expletive deleted.
