I have been able to do many (free) basic repairs on bikes in this poor inner city, thank God, but now my neighbor needs a new rear wheel for a BMX bike as the old rim was run over by a car. It has the smaller type sprocket on both the crank ("chainring?") and the rear wheel, and when i tried to put the old hub in a freewheel rim then it would not fit. And with the smaller type crank then a the larger, standard type rear sprocket is not feasible.
I have looked a lot online, and see many 20'' wheels at places such as Niagara Cycle , but evidently they do not come with the sprocket/cogset, and I see no description that tells (ignorant) me what will hub and cogset fit.
The old one looked like this one i saw on ebay, the best i can see. Could i place the hub from one such as that on a wheel like this?

Where I’m from, kids get their bicycles stolen, and they wind up down in this guy’s inner city. Swell.
Wheel as in rim as in bicycle.
The guy looks like he was a bit of a nutcase (check out the pics), but he knew his stuff.
If it’s expensive I’d forget about it and just buy a “lot” of 20 or so bikes at the next police auction... give him another one.
That is certainly a reality to some degree, and most thefts are of the typical kind of bikes here are from within the city, while higher end theft occurs btwn suburbs, and from the city to there, yet the majority i have seen hardly have much of a market value, with tires that are often so worn i put rubber inside them and have a multiplicity of patches.
My policy is that if it is stolen then there is no help, and i ask if i suspect it, for what its worth, and they get a lecture about stealing, as well as the gospel of Christ.
Stolen cars also end up in the city and in the mechanics shop, but the solution is not to refuse to fix any. Get a simple engraver and place an phone # on the bottom bracket. That or attempts to cover it, which the kids here are not sophisticated enough to do attempt, would be much a real give away.
i have been there but it lacks the specifics that would tell me which descriptions as seen here or below would tell if the microdrive sprocket would fit.
This guy works and it seems i can get a rear wheel for 20, if i knew it would fit. I do not have the space to store bikes.
Alternatively you could just buy a new rim and spokes and lace it up, using the old hub. (If you know how to build wheels).

Plus, I am NOT paying 456.99 for a simple 26" wheel! Some of the sites I have visited are plain bonkers.
I dunno. I didn’t see any links to any Huffy or Schwinn parts, so no joy on this end.
Sometimes bike shops have used parts laying around. You may find the entire assembly
at one for next to nothing.

You can get cheap 26” bikes at walmart.
Not sure how long they would last.
Plus, there is no WalMart anywhere close to where I live.

Well I’ve been out of the business for many years. I mistakenly thought you wanted to reuse the hub and wanted rim advice. You could take that option and just rebuild the wheel if you have a good truing stand. As for the hub, is it a cassette freehub with a 9t gear or is the 9t cog a freewheel in itself? Most all 20” single speeds were standard thread with a freewheel cog. Most cassettes are just a gear with a lock ring and a spacer. Almost all of either type are the same size unless they are French, English or Italian manufactured. My advice would be buy the right type of wheel/hub combo (Freewheel or Freehub) and it should fit. The next trick for most people would be figuring out how o remove the 9t gear, but I have a feeling you’ve done that already.

Seems like a hard question to answer and that you have to go by the images.
Reliable sources for replacement parts, or finding ones that fit can be hard, while i think someone is making a hefty profit for a wheel that weighs just over 3lbs and costs 300.00
Meanwhile, you can but a cheap 20'' bike at Walmart for as low as 50 .00
