Great romantic comedies and romantic movies exist. They just don’t exist in Hollywood.
For several years, I have been watching K Dramas, or dramas made in Korea.
They have wonderful, clean and wholesome plots.
They are technically superior to Hollywood and the actors are far better than Hollywood.
You will get used to the sub-titles quickly.
Take a look at Drama Fever. It is a streaming service and I urge you to give it a try.
Right, they are being made. ELSEWHERE. And they don’t get screen time in America in the theaters.
Just as fathers have disappeared from tv commercials, unless (A) they are members of a mixed race family, (B) two gay fathers, or (C) dumber than the 7 year old of the family.
I would never have guessed that these “K Dramas” even existed. Thanks for the tip! I’m already used to watching subbed Anime, so I doubt this will be much different from that perspective.
I’ll have to check out Drama Fever later this weekend.
I also find Korean dramas to be quite superior and highly enjoyable. Their movies are all excellent too.
Agreed - Korean movies and TV shows are great. Thy’ve picked up the ball that Hollywood dropped and run a long way with it.
bump
I was just going to write a similar post on my turn to Korean dramas because of similar dismay, when I happened across yours. I concur wholeheartedly for the exact same reason you listed.
The last two I watched that were tremendous were, My Love From Another Star, funny, sweet, involving and lingering. The best romantic comedy actress I have ever seen is Jun Ji-hyun. In That Winter, the Wind Blows, the cinematography was excellent, I love playing the soundtrack and Jo Insung is the most expressive actor I have ever seen, he blows away any of the young men these days.
The only problem is, I haven’t found another to while away the time, that would give me pleasure and distract me from current events.
Any suggestions?
