Of course. Music is a subjective medium. I have a little experience in music as a lead singer and drummer and rhythm guitar player, so I state things as I see them...as do we all. Unfortunately, sometimes it comes out too strong because I so believe in melody.
I grew up listening to Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Strauss, et al. I also grew up listening to the Crystals, Ronettes, Dion, Smokey, Supremes and all of Motown. I know melody when I hear it. I never heard a melody from the Ramones, but I'm open to hearing such. Probably tuned them out because of their thrash playing. Give me a song to listen to.

I was upset when I saw the headline. I clicked on the thread to voice my sadness over a death of someone who meant something in my life.
Your rant (sitting right up top #3) was unnecessary.
You threw out an opinion like only you could judge music to be good or bad, with no understanding of others and their tastes.
You keep mentioning melody. Who are you to say a Ramones song has no melody?
I play the flute. Mostly classical, some jazz. You are not the only FReeper with some musical experience.
