This Vivaldi piece played by Patrick Rondat and Jean Michel Jarre blew me away. IMO Rondat is the greatest guitarist since Hendrix, arguably greater.
Here he’s jamming with flamenco artists:
Love what they did with Mussorgsky.
Waitingwaitingwaiting .....
Yup. TD, Jarre, Cabaret Voltaire, Kraftwerk ... lots of the eclectic synth stuff has entered my ears over the years ;)
Also check out the BBC’s Synth Britania on you tube for a cool history tour.
The new stuff really excites me as it is in many ways ‘authentic’ but they still take it ‘modern’ at times with new tools and techniques. But even when they do it is more like ‘80s seen from an alternate timeline’ than ‘modern’ in the current pop schlock sense.
Ping to Salamander for musical interest
The transvestites on Woodward are happy to hear that he’ll be visiting the city.
80s shred /neoclassical fits well with real classical ;) And the synths do nothing to take away from it either.
MI ping from across the river :)
Eddie Murphy is one of the few comic genius. I loved Bow finger with Steve Martin, another comic genius.
Best newish act I’ve stumbled upon in recent years is Ladytron. Nettwerk Music still has a knack for picking out the best.
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I’m going to check this stuff out. I dig that 80s synth sound :-).
Pretty good!
For me, this is pretty much the HQ for the modern synthwave stuff. You can blow serious time scrolling back and listening to a mectric xxxxton of great stuff.
Recently ‘expanded’ his coverage but the ‘weekend update’ is where the meat is.
You are about to, like the Cheezburger cat, haZ a happy ;)
Ever heard of Zia?
This is the only song of theirs I like.
“Yuri Gagarin”

Thanks, got it bookmarked! Time for a modern music pinglist?
Might not hurt. Seems to be a few of us looking for good music in the sea of dreck.
Interesting. Jarre also did a song about Gagarin, on his first album with lyrics:
For some insane reason, now I’m thinking of The Tubes, Aphrodite’s Child, Rick Wakeman and Mike Oldfield.
[I’m just as surprised by how my brain works as everyone else]
;]
I’m setting it up now. You guys are my first victims ;)
