Which distro are you using? I am considering installing on my desktop and my wife’s laptop (which is still on XP).

Which distro are you using? I am considering installing on my desktop and my wifes laptop (which is still on XP).You might want to check out Mint 17. I like the KDE version, but there are others. I'm a long-time fedora user, and am really liking Mint a lot, which I've been running in a VM as my work PC.

I run Linux on a variety of machines. Always some recent version of Linux Mint or Ubuntu. I really like Mint 16 running the “Mate” desktop - very stable and friendly. I’ll wait a while on the latest Mint 17 release for the all the bugs to shake out.

Try
Ubuntu, it is plug-and-play and has a great app library you can search and download.
