My neighbor’s kid recently found a cell phone near the sidewalk near our house. He tells me “its my lucky day”! So I said, “you mean it’s the lucky day of the person who lost it right?”. No, he thought he would keep it. I took it from him and called the rightful owner.
The cell phone owner is lucky you caught the kid who found it. I do hope you told his parents what happened. Not that most parents give a crap these days.
