A very thin layer will cool the fastest.
I have five “shallow” ice cube trays and one deep one while three are about “average.” One of my neighbors found some last summer that were HUGH and one was all that was needed in your glass, even outside in this heat.
Perhaps I should look for some of those...even though I don’t drink outside!
