Conservative columnist Ann Coulter has been shown a red card for her controversial comments criticizing the World Cup and calling soccer a girls game.
On the eve of the United States game against Belgium, Coulter has been blasted by fellow conservatives who have scoffed at her claim that "any growing interest in soccer can only be a sign of the nations moral decay," Politico reported.
On Fox & Friends, host Brian Kilmeade attacked Coulter, saying, "I will outline what she said and try to find anything factual in it. That will be an interesting little exercise."
And Fox News host Shep Smith said sarcastically, "I'm told it's a sign of moral decay. It's not."
Although millions of Americans are watching every match in the tournament being held in Brazil, especially the U.S. team, Coulter suggested that only Americans of Hispanic descent are viewing the games.

It’s a funny column. You have to have a sense of humor to appreciate it. Liberals — and, I guess, these “conservatives” — have no sense of humor.
Surprise, surprise!
I thought her take was hilarious.
You’re right on, pogo
Why in hell does everyone have to be offended by everything?
Loosen up, people. You’re getting as bad the freakin’ liberals.
We’ve really been having a meltdown on the humor front at FR lately. I’ve never known a time where so many people didn’t get a joke or sarcasm or a funny snark. Coulter’s column was funny. Especially to those of us who loath and despise (as Curtis Sliwa would say) the game of soccer.
Tried watching US v Belgium this afternoon.
Soccer is even more boring than hockey — heck soccer makes hockey look like an interesting game!
Can no one take a joke anymore? Sheesh! What’s next, the Redskins?
If you cared to check you would see that Mayor Daley in Chicago did exactly the same thing when the World Cup was played there in 1994. Lighten up and wise up.
Boredom is actually another sign of moral decay. You can either stop watching or demand more. So when hockey, soccer, baseball and football can no longer entertain the masses, will gladiator games start appearing in arenas?
I’m with Ann. Soccer is a squish game. America is Football and baseball. We don’t need no steenking soccer. LOL!
Can't believe that's coming from this side of the aisle.
Already here. It’s called “Mixed Martial Arts”
Image running ‘round a huge grassy field with a ball.. But DON’T USE YOUR HANDS. LOL Soccer is a joke. It’s 80% chance, and 20% skill.
And how many times did Nixon run?
Just sayin'........
Shep Smith defending soccer kinda proves Colter’s point.
Ann said no one whose great-grandfather was born in the US is following the World Cup. There's a problem--most people have 4 great-grandfathers (only 2 if their parents were first cousins). Two of my great-grandfathers were born in the US and two were born in Europe. So I should half-watch the games?
The cartoonist Gary Varvel had a great cartoon on June 27 about the World Cup.
In the first box, a boy excitedly tells his dad: "USA advances!" His dad asks, "So we won?"
In the second box the boy says, "No, we lost." The dad asks, "How's that?"
In the third box, the boy explains, "Ghana lost." The dad observes, "But we played Germany."
In the final box, the boy says, "That's right" and the dad says, "I'm going back to baseball."
When you are under constant attack, yes
I do the same with Shep Smith.
I can't think of one person Smith could interview that would obviate that action.
I rarely partake of tv news any more, even before BHO, to the extent I can't even remember the last time I watched FNC, let alone changed the channel when Smith irritatingly popped up.
