Its time to say good-bye to the establishment GOP and mainstream conservatism.
Yesterday in Mississippi, dirty politics won again. Republican Party elites, the Republican National Committee, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Senator John McCain, and incumbent Senator Thad Cochrans specially targeted outreach to black and Democratic voters did the trick.
Cochran ran behind state senator and conservative Chris McDaniel in the June 3 primary. To make up his deficit, Cochran, with full support from the national GOP, directed a full press effort to enlist voters who basically oppose everything that Republicans are supposedly for.
Thus, Cochran, with support from the national GOP, reached out to hostile liberals and Democrats, the NAACP, and other groups that scorn conservative ideas. He pleaded with them to support him, to keep the extreme right and crazies and racists from taking his seat.
In return, he promised more of the same: more government goodies, more spending, more welfare checks, more moderation, and more outreach to those hostile groups. An outrageous Cochran flyer warned black voters against voting for a candidate McDaniel who would suppress their vote and return them to the bad old times of segregation.

I already have.
No.
Time to form the US Independence Party as a caucus inside the GOP. Attract enough sitting Members of Congress, Governors, State Legislators and the local officials to be seen as formidable.
Then, be the “honest broker” or go the way UKIP in the British Isles has, whichever seems wiser.
Ya think?
Agree.
This election served a useful purpose. It showed there’s essentially no difference between America’s two ruling parties. They serve the same leaders ultimately and, push come to shove, they will cooperate to shut out anyone trying to reinstate our Constitutional Republic.
The “party of no” hugely anti-Obama etc. was shown to be the myth it always does.
BOTH parties are pro-Amnesty, pro bailouts and handouts. It’s the same crew in the same car but they just trade places at the wheel from time to time.
Do I enjoy the thought of punching liberals in the face?
Duh!
The GOP died in Mississippi. They are stupid to realize it.
When your party no longer tries to get your vote they are no longer your party by their choice. How can they expect me to vote for them when they don’t want my vote and instead they seek the opposite view point for support?
Seems pretty clear that they no longer want me to vote for them.
Some are only now getting the message apparently.
I did long ago.
It’s at the point I treat people as it they have donated to al-Qaeda when I hear they have donated to the RNC.
that goes all the way back to Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority". this group worked very hard to get President Reagan elected.
'Rockefeller or Country Club Repubs' (GOPe) had no use for these people. they wanted their votes and their money, that's about it.
ditto
The GOPe already has said “Goodbye” and “Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out” to all of us here already...
Only an abused wife or beaten down dog would stay with the GOP these days...
Long since gone.
I left last year.
The Greedy Old Progressives have been gone for years. But nobody wants to bury the carcass.
“....to enlist voters who basically oppose everything that Republicans are supposedly for.”
That is a lie. Cochran and the liberal democrats/blacks don’t oppose anything the republicans stand for. They’re on the same side.
1000% correct
I have a friend who has been very supportive of republicans for years. He gave a lot of money. Last year he decided enough was enough. He hasn’t donated since and tells those who ask for money to go to hell. And he says he’s through voting for them.
The gopE doesn’t want our votes. And they’re about to find out that they’re not going to get them.
As for Mississippi, the plantation owner loaned his slaves to the Cochran plantation to plant the cotton. They will go back home when it’s time to pick the cotton in November. Cochran’s cotton will rot in the field.
