I just love articles that make liberal heads explode. I'm a few years from retirement, might move to Texas.

What is the projected rate of return on this $300,000.00 investment?
What percent of the company will the people of Texas now own?
To: cripplecreek
Hey, what’s wrong with investing in jobs? I’m sure the state of Texas will also get a monetary return on their investment.

Government has no business choosing winners and losers with our money, even Texas and even the gun industry.

Just like I don’t like solar company subsidies, I do not like gun manufacturer subsidies.

Just like I dont like solar company subsidies, I do not like gun manufacturer subsidies.Big difference; it's an investment with a common rate of return. You think Solendra was an investment? No that was a government subsidy, a poor one.

Isn’t the Maverick a plainer version of the already plain Mossberg model 500.

I wish they could have fancied it up a bit to create a more colorful return, like commissioning “artwork” guns to be given as awards, and maybe a special run of guns that are unique to Texas.

Instead maybe Gov. Perry should have used the 300k for seed corn to start a “State Bank” like North Dakota and then they could have made a loan to said Firearms Manufacturer....

Absolutely.
I have no problem giving tax breaks to companies wishing to relocate to Texas. Toyota moving to Frisco for instance. Stimulates the local economy, decreases unemployment in the relocation areas, increases sales and franchise tax.

Maverick Firearms is a subsidiary of O.F. Mossberg & Sons. A great catch for Texas.

Maverick Firearms is a subsidiary of O.F. Mossberg & Sons. A great catch for Texas. Thanks for the info. I've been getting so much flack on this thread from FReepers who think this is a bad idea; Hell, Texas is going to get a great return on their investment both in jobs and a monetary return plus interest!
