President Barack Obama is asking Congress for $500 million to train and arm vetted members of the Syrian opposition, as the U.S. grapples for a way to stem a civil war that has also fueled the al-Qaida inspired insurgency in neighboring Iraq.
The military training program would deepen the Obama administration's involvement in the more than four-year conflict between rebels and forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad. If approved by Congress, the program would supplement a covert train-and-assistance program run by U.S. intelligence agencies.

Heck. This might be a good time for Syria to think seriously about what master they want to serve. If Syria falls, Lebanon would be next. There would be uprisings in Egypt and Jordan.
Think it might be a good time for Assad to either talk to the Israelis or get out of Dodge. What frightens me more than anything is “where are Husseins WMD’s?” I know it was quietly mentioned that ISiS got their hands on it, but that is probably a false flag.
The only other thing I want to know is why in an Arab world where Shiites outnumber Sunnis by a lot they are running scared?

Had he asked for this a year ago, he might have gotten it. At this point, things are too far gone in Syria to justify arming the so-called rebels. I think Obama is counting on a “no” answer so he can say “I wanted to aid the Syrian freedom fighters, but the mean, evil Republicans said no.”
