Actually gloves are worse than bare hands. With gloves, you don't feel the dirt on your hands like you do with bare hands, thus it is easier to cross contaminate foods. Also, I have watched someone go from sweeping the floor to fixing food.... all with the same gloves. Our health department is lessening the dependence on gloves.

I was in a fast food chicken store years ago, and the person behind the counter, who was wearing gloves, took a piece of gum out of his mouth, put it back in, and asked if he could help me. I said “no” and left.
