Craig Ferguson Addresses His Gay Character In How To Train Your Dragon 2

Dreamworks How To Train Your Dragon 2 is full of comedy, action and thrills … But one thing that might catch movie goers off guard is the film’s reference to homosexuality.

In the fantasy flick, Gobber, the voice of late night host, Craig Ferguson, made a direct comment about his sexuality. “This is why I never married. This and one other reason,” the animated character says. So, during an interview with Ferguson to talk about the sequel, HipHollywood got straight to the point and asked the star about his character’s sexuality.

“I think that the implication would be that he is gay. I think, maybe more will be revealed later on,” Craig responded.

Gobbler made another comment that he could make all the meals for the reunited king and queen.

Not the first time. In Para Norman (I think) the main characters teen-aged brother continually express his attraction so some generically named person and about 5 minutes to the end of the movie, you found out it was another guy.

I was SO glad my girls are grown and I'm the only one in my house who watches 'kid' movies anymore.

And felt SO bad for any parent watching it with their kid. They would have been blindsided with the subject left right in their lap.

I’d heard there was a reference in the movie, but when I heard it I thought the same thing: the character is missing all sorts of body parts already, not having man-parts would be in pretty good keeping with all that.

I don’t know about their claim, but I didn’t see what Goober said as anything sexual. Just because he (the interviewer) wants to claim it, doesn’t make it so. Like when someone claimed Prof Dumbledore was gay (from Harry Potter). Being single and hanging with members of the same sex does not make you perverted, just single.

If you read the article, the director is a poof and he thought it was good to show children that gay people are everywhere. Just like normal people.
