Pointing out that post-election challenges usual fail, one Tea Party leader, Judson Phillips is calling for Thad Cochran's primary challenger, State Senator Chris McDaniel to run as a write-in candidate in the Fall.
The Republican Establishment thinks they have fought back an insurrection from conservatives and now we will meekly fall in line in November and support a RINO who needs Democrats to win? Never, said Mr. Phillips, who also writes a column in The Washington Times. If Chris McDaniel loses his challenges to this election, then he needs to be a write-in candidate this fall.
It's increasingly clear that Democrat votes, particularly from Mississipi's African American community helped Thad Cochran eek out a win over McDaniel in the GOP primary. Those votes would most likely go to a Democrat in the Fall, meaning McDaniel may have a good chance at winning in a three man race.

Right. The way I look at it, 90,000 folks want a Democrat, 153,000 actually want Cochran but 180,000 want McDaniel.
Cochran bought the roughly 35,000 Democrat votes.
I wouldn’t be surprised many of the Democrat voters were illegally voting in both runoffs. Best case is they have 120k dem voters.
McDaniel could win a write-in
What a way to reward betrayal - by voting for Cochran after this outrage.
Or have you no minimum standards at all?
Yes, Yes and Yes. Oh and yes.
The GOPe totally got behind Lisa Murkowski’s write-in bid, and she prevailed. McDaniels MUST do the same.
Tea Party Judson Phillips says If Chris McDaniel loses ***his challenges*** to this election, then he needs to be a write-in candidate this fall.
First step: challenge the election irregularities. Court may just order election be done again and McDaniel supporters will have ample time to ensure crossovers have not already voted democrat in June 3 election. Besides, RNC and other GOPe scum probably won’t fund the ‘walking around money’ on the second go’round to get those poor democrats to the polls for Cochran.
Second Step: if challenges to election irregularities fail, then run a write-in campaign and beat Cochran in November when the dem crossovers won’t be there for Cochran.
Those people came out because there was $50 for them waiting.
And many of them voted illegally as they had already voted in the dem primary.
The already voted crossovers can be stopped at the polls and the walk-around money will likely not be there for them.
With a million or two paid out for walkabouts, McDaniel can buy some votes too.
$50 is groceries, gas or beer to urban poor. It’s not small change. They will get across town for $50.
McDaniel can win as a write-in.
A write-in campaign is certainly an option. Murkowski won in AK with one a few years back.
Numbers need to be kept front and center to gauge the expections, imo. The expected
turnout for the general will be somewhere around 1.2 million votes using historical
data. In 2010 Sen. Wicker won with just over 700,000 votes about 57%. In 2008 Sen. Cochran
won with over 760,000 votes about 64%.
The GOP runoff on June 24 had just over 370,000 votes or about 1/2 of the votes that could
be expected from the winner in the general. Where the additional votes will come from
and how they will vote is the biggest question.
It is an option for McDaniel to try and he has to do it as a write in and can’t be listed
on the ballot as MS has a sore loser law. But if he doesn’t try then we’ll never know if it
was possible. It would certainly generate some interest I would think.
See my posts.
Write-in votes count here ONLY if the primary winner DIES after the votes are printed but before the election.
Cochran should RESIGN and let McDaniel run on his own in Nov. Jesus Christ! He’s 76! Ain’t that old enough?
Do you know how many rice bowls are in that organization?
Do you expect them all to starve? /s
I totally agree. What the RINOs did is despicable and they should pay for it.
That seems strange but each state has their own laws
regarding the election process.
I guess conservatives really want to lose the seat to the Dems. Sorry, but this is shooting yourself in both feet - and in the head, while youre at it.
“Listen to the gope robocalls and commercials. Per their ads the tea party does not respect the pres. because he is black. the tea party wants to make it so you can’t vote.” Nothing but race baiting. If that is something you will support, then we are just very different people.
Going forward, I will only vote for tea party or 3rd party.
So you see this as an isolated incident? You realize Romney’s buddies are behind all this. He used dem tactics in FL against Gingrich, but you see him as a decent human being. When will people wake up. This is not a once in a lifetime situation. Romney and his RINO friends have been pulling these same tricks for years and the naive among us keep giving them a pass.
Your baby killing, gay marriage loving, gore bull warming accepting, Obamacare creating, decent human being was too nice to campaign against Obama. But he had no problem using vile, lying campaign tactics against conservatives though. Both Mitt and Thad have the same belief system — conservatives bad, liberals good. They will use every and anything they can against conservatives to defeat them, against democrats and liberals, not so much.
Romney’s non debating, non campaigning self is proof positive of that.
Aye! Twas a golden age! The government shrunk, liberty reigned supreme, and the 4th amendment was kept strong!
Oh, wait...
Sore loser? What are you talking about? Are you not aware of what happened here in Mississippi? Are you not aware that Republicans DID NOT choose Thad Cochran, but voted 60 to 40% for Chris McDaniel? Are you not aware that black Democrats elected Thad Cochran for the nomination?
I am very aware of what happened.
The laws are called ‘sore loser’ to prevent someone who has lost a primary from running in the general election under another party’s platform.
Most states have them. Look up what Mur’cow’ski did in Alaska.
Unlike MS though, many states will ALLOW write candidates to have their votes counted. In MS, write-in’s aren’t counted unless the person who wins the primary DIES after the votes are printed but BEFORE the election.
Didn’t make the rules. Don’t personally like them.
We were going to write in McD. Now we’re dithering on just sitting out that race or voting for Childers. Mainly to prevent Bryant from choosing Cochran’s (liberal, RINO, GOPe) successor in 2 years when he retires. And having to fight THAT useless incumbant for decades henceforth.
Will be much easier to knock off Childers in 6 years than some hand chosen successor.
Oh, I get it.
I’ve heard the rumor that Bryant would appoint Barbour to fill Cochran’s seat. Sick.
So what, the Gop supports Reid.
Boy......... tough crowd here after this disgusting display by the GOPe in MS. At the point of no return, where our choice to lead this country for 4 years was between O and Romney, my choice was to vote for Romney. Again, I refused to remain silent by not voting. Should all conservatives have sat home and not voted for Romney or for McCain?
The battleground begins at the local level. The naive are the ones who are not engaged. Wisconsin elected Gov. Scott Walker - twice.
