SAO PAULO, Brazil — The U.S. national soccer team will arrive at Arena Pernambuco in Recife for Thursday’s pivotal World Cup match against Germany after playing in Amazonian air as thick as hummus four days earlier. Germany will take the field for the Group G showdown with the benefit of 27 extra hours of recuperation and preparation after competing in another northeast coastal city, Fortaleza.

That’s a shame Suarez did that, a lot of those Uruguay players honestly seem like good people like Gaston Ramirez and Godin, the latter I think is okay, seems he got away with a major foul vs. England, just saying. Suarez brings it on himself if he’s doing stuff like biting people. Hard to defend someone doing those kinds of things.

One last attack for Italy.

But we may not see Suarez again.

I’m honestly sorry that sometimes I am critical of Italy but they showed it in this game, they can play very cynically, Pirlo is total class.

Two WCs in a row Italy have failed to make it out of the Group.

Listed to ITA/URU on ESPN Radio. The announcers were pretty critical to the ref about the red card, plus missing Suarez’s antics. If he actually bit someone, FIFA have to step in and suspend him for multiple games, don’t they?

“Two WCs in a row Italy have failed to make it out of the Group.”

They will definitely need to retool, but speaking of ‘tools’, if FIFA cares at all about integrity (big if) they need to suspend Suarez for the rest of the cup. You should not be allowed to bite the opposition. If he thinks he's a hardass, then let him put on gear and go up against some special ops troops in the jungle. What a POS, and this is coming from someone who was happy to see him score two goals and win the last game.

The red card should’ve come out for that.

Suarez bites in the 80th, Uruguay scores in 81st.

Okay, as Martinez says, you have to concentrate. Still makes you wonder.

Still, this is Materazzi territory, he was a real roughhouser himself. Elbowed someone in the face one time. Harsh stuff.

This taints the result some. And I don’t care for Italy.

Suarez at centre of new biting row as Uruguay progress
A goal from Diego Godin gave Uruguay victory against Italy and a place in the last 16 of the World Cup - but Luis Suarez was the centre of attention after he appeared to bite Giorgio Chiellini.

It would be the third biting incident of Suarez's career, having already served lengthy suspensions at club level for an incident with Ajax in November 2010 and Liverpool in April 2013. He could now face a ban by FIFA at international level should they choose to act on television evidence.

If England had shown more teeth in this World Cup, they would still be playing.

Funny how the one team in the group who has never won a Cup winds up winning the Group.

Uruguay is D2 and would face C1 who is probably going to be Colombia who should push aside a Suarez-less Uruguay aside quite easily.
