SAO PAULO, Brazil The U.S. national soccer team will arrive at Arena Pernambuco in Recife for Thursdays pivotal World Cup match against Germany after playing in Amazonian air as thick as hummus four days earlier. In the last World Cup final, what De Jong did was outrageous, that kung fu kick. It’s hard to see how some things in football/soccer are punished but other things not.
And biting people, in our American Football, Gridiron, that may well happen but when you see it during a soccer game, you think the guy has to be nuts.
Excerpts:
“Responding on social media, former Liverpool academy product Michael Owen, who went on to represent Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Manchester United said: “Tell me I’m seeing things. Surely Suarez didn’t bite someone again? I’m genuinely gutted. I love watching him play more than any other player but he obviously just can’t control himself.”
Rio Ferdinand, a BBC pundit who is also joining QPR, said: “Tell me Suarez didn’t eat someone! Was the hero a couple of days ago ”
So now I see the penalty, well, the refs haven’t called many in this tournament, might be a weak call but could be called it looks like. Tough way to go out of a tournament. Right before the action near the Ivory Coast goal, the announcer was saying “The Ivory Coast defenders are just walking back”.
Wouldn’t that be ironic that for how well Costa Rica has played, somehow Greece could challenge them well. Interesting.
European Teams advancing, let’s see,
France, Germany, Netherlands
Greece, Belgium.
I expected there to be more in the round of 16, Switzerland and Russia can make it though that is not assured.
I’d probably like to see Algeria advance though I can accept Russia okay.
Bosnia and Croatia hard done, whether one cares to wonder what could have been. Hard calls go with the game, Mexico got them vs. Cameroon.
Nice attempt at humor, but I Suarez is a jerk. I wish I would have had the opportunity for him to try to bite me. He would be eating pureed bananas for the rest of his life.
Sounds like what Zidane or Pepe could have said.
BEST OF LUCK USA, I know we will advance.
