I saw a little one in the neighbor’s yard on the way to the park and even better, a curled up little fawn on the church lawn with a doe nearby. It’s the first fawn I’ve seen this year. It looked like mom said lay low and don’t move.

When I was hiking over the weekend, I stopped to watch two fawns jumping around in a little area of grass below the wooded cliff on the opposite bank of the river. After awhile, a doe came out of the trees and started eating grass-I doubt they even noticed me, with the noise of the rapids and the tree cover-it was one of those moments that remind me of why I live in BFE, no matter what.
