I love wild boar hunting. LOVE. IT. Its relatively cheap, it can be very dangerous and their backstraps are muy tasty. Heres some good campfire fodder for boar hunters, namely, which are the best guns for dispatching wild swine. Enjoy.
1. Browning BAR ShorTrac Hog Stalker
In 1917 John Moses Browning designed the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), and since its killed more enemies of America than just about anything else.
It served our men in every major conflict from World War I to Vietnam, and so sporting versions of it should be all the pig gun American hunters need. But the new BARwhile similar in nature to its combative brotherhas undergone major changes to make it ideal in the pig woods.
Brownings BAR ShorTrac Hog Stalker is a 10-round semi-auto .308 rifle that feels more like your deer rifle than an AR-15.

Raven .25 auto, chrome plated (the chrome helps with the ballistics). Walther PPK in .380 auto. Guaranteed hog stoppers. I recommend strongly that Democrats try using those guns to hunt Texas boars.
If you need a reference to close the deal, use my name. /evil grin
I had a Super Blackhawk just like that except mine was blued.
It probably would have been a good choice for steel chickens etc. but it was really too long for hunting.
A six inch barrel would have been just about right. A 7 1/2 inch barrel would also have been OK.
The Remington pump in 35 Whelen is excellent for hog hunting.
Marlin .35 will work fine on anything up to a black bear.
Jett Webb of North Carolina and this 500-pound hog. He shot him with a .308
Any select fire rifle Ted Nugent uses from a helicopter to hunt them will do.
I like the .308, but I go pig killing with a Ruger mini 14.
It is all in the shot placement. I killed a 400 pounder with a shot just behind the ear. Sow dropped like a sack of potatoes and never got up.
Back in the 60s, a friend and I took a 600 lb. sow to the stock auction in Geneva, Alabama. I remember a couple of guys telling us that we had let her get too large which we already knew.
She wasn’t old and actually sold for a good price. That was a long time ago, but she didn’t look as large as that 500 lb. one in the picture.
I was thinking that A-10’s (and C-130 gunships) would work well on ISIS/ISIL columns.
I loaned my 760 to a friend, he says a boar charged at him, galoop, galoop, galoop, galoop, and he bore down on it & fired. Bang! Galoop, galoop, tumble tumble tumble until it ended up at his feet. Dead.
I’ve since rebarreled it to 22” in .308 & added a scope. More genteel.
youre right,i’m sure we would love to see Puff work over those shiny Toyota trucks, but are you comparing wild hogs to ISIS ?
A case could be made.
well...you have my vote.
since you’ll be in charge of flight ops, please give us a heads up so we can have the orville r. ready.
My brother has a raven 25 I’m sure he would be happy to loan any Democrat that wants to go boar hunting. And I’ll buy the ammo.
Rem 700 30/06 180gr with my ND-3 light attached to the scope. If I’m close enough I use my .17HMR to the ear hole.
44 mag - yes!
But it needs proper ammo. I recommend 325 grain gas checks. Kicks hard, but I get pass through on a 300 pound hog.
