Chinese Man Dies From Sleep Deprivation After Staying Up Late to Watch the World Cup

As a regular attendee of the San Jose Earthquakes (Go Wondo!), I have repeatedly made the same observation game after game, season after season, about the Quakes.
The problem, to me, is that the players - at least on the Earthquakes - didn't want to be the one who took the shot and missed. Therefore, nobody takes the shot; all they do is try to pass the ball to someone else to take the shot.
Ultimate what happens is that the ball is intercepted and nobody ever takes a shot.
It's very frustrating to watch the pattern repeat and repeat. If the team gets a reputation of being afraid to take the shots, then the other team can craft a defense that doesn't have to worry about defending the goal. They just have to block the midfield and wait for the Americans to pass and pass and pass...

It is SO SAFE to take a negative position.
In sports: “They are lousy and can not win.”
At work: “Oh, that won’t work.”
In the car: “We’ll never make it in time.”
If you are right, you say “I told you so.”
If your wrong you say, “Oh, I was wrong. Isn’t that great?”
Playing it safe is for losers. Maybe, like what the US team is doing. ;o)
But I'll be nice and won't mention anything about that. Soccer is a great game - for those who like that sort of thing.
Like we didn’t already know this....hardly news worthy
At least it was a high scoring game with lots of excitement. And some ouchies.
I really don’t begrudge soccer fans their due but how can you love a sport that has it’s length of contest controlled secretly by one man?
Soccer is as big as baseball in the under 18 crowd.
