they have an IT department..
when a computer crashes they get called
they log the crash
they order parts
they set up a new computer
they may try to make a backup -OR- restore her computer from their last backup...
-AND-
The emails she sent and recived came through an email server- they are not stored locally
try this yourself at work- go to a new machine and log onto your email account- you will see all your emails
the SERVER would have had to crash- and if the $2.2 billion they spend on IT is not getting us a triple redundant backup of IRS data than where is the money going?
These emails must be really baaaaaaaaaaddd!!!
oh and I forgot to add- where is the paper trail of the IT department log of her crash problems and fix?
A user can always set their email client to store email on the local drive and delete from the server. That is how mine is set up. I’d be surprised though if a gov agency did not store copies of all emails. If this were about sexual harassment, they’d find ‘em.
