The Roman Catholic archbishop of San Francisco said Monday its his duty to proclaim the truth about marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife, even when those views are unpopular.
The comment by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone came in response to a coalition of liberal politicians, fellow clergy and gay-rights leaders who have urged him to skip an upcoming March for Marriage event in Washington.
Cordileone, who chairs the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops subcommittee on the promotion and defense of marriage, is a scheduled speaker at Thursdays march and rally sponsored by the National Organization for Marriage and other groups opposed to same-sex marriage.

Since when is Pelosi a faithful Catholic?
Pelosi and the illegals are two different circumstances in my mind. She calling the march vernon masquerading as virtue, shows us that she is attacking the Church. As a Catholic, one of our Catholic obligations is to uphold the values of marriage.
The illegals, I could throw the book at them: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods; thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor( saying they are escaping gang violence ( which seems to be tutored and accusing the Border patrol of ill-treatment ); they shalt not steal.
The illegals said that the Catholic church told them how and that they should come up here. By their actions they are betraying the teachings of the Church.
I can see how you could misconstrue what I tried to say. I attend the churches in Tucson, where many illegals live. The churches are empty spaces that advertise in other dioceses bulletins for people to join them. They may have been born Catholic, but MANY are not practicing. So in a way, they are not pro-Catholic. And they don’t care about the teachings of the Church.
Last week, I attended a confirmation with a mostly hispanic congregation. The bishop mentioned that there were two kids who could not answer his questions for confirmation from two other churches and they were in the pews. He made sure that this confirmation class all would pass and he gave them a multiple choice question that asked them to give the only wrong answer. It was a silly give away, and the kids still struggled. To me they were not prepared.
It was a rite of passage for the kids and their families, but no one took it seriously.
She isn’t. That was my point. She should be denied Communion.
Well, they may have been playing politics, there’s no question that that happens and I don’t know who these Bishops were. If they weren’t even concerned whether those on the other side of the fence were practicing Catholics that would be quite troubling. Distributing Communion randomly, just for politics, would certainly not be a good thing.
By the way, I hope you can get get your marriage issues righted with the Church. I will say a prayer for that so that you can receive Communion once more. God bless!
You are truly kind and gracious. Bless you. Bless you.
Oh, no problem! You are now in my prayer intentions. :)
I have never been in anyone’s prayer’s intentions before. I will remember you in mine too. What a blessed night I am having because of you. Thank-you.
Er what happened to the separation of church and state? Why is a congresswoman trying to influence a member of the clergy to go against his biblical beliefs?
Pelousy is serving her Master, who is a liar and the father of lies, and who was a murderer from the beginning ...
Thank-you!
