Years ago, I was a volunteer firefighter in a county North of Atlanta. Very early one morning I was awoken by my pager for some sort of emergency call. My route to the location of the emergency took me down this road that has a huge hill. It is very easy to build up a lot of speed going down this hill. As I neared the bottom of the hill, a thought popped into my head “Better slow down, a deer could run across the road here and you would not be able to stop”. NO sooner than I slowed down, did a deer sprint right in front of my car. Had I not slowed down at that exact moment, I would have hit it for sure. At the speed I was going it would have been a very serious accident.
Now a skeptic might dismiss it and say that my subconscious mind observed the deer and planted that thought before my conscious mind could process the information. But I choose to believe the message came from elsewhere.
I used to drive all over the Country for my sales job (70,000 miles per year). I always said that I was traveling with my "Guardian Angel" aboard as I have many stories similar to yours.
And no, it wasn't a subconscious thing. The most striking was a time when I was traveling Southbound on an Interstate and was "told" LOUDLY to slow down and go over the the right shoulder...so I did. Over the hill came a Northbound car flying up out of the median into the lane where I "would" have been had I continued apace.
By the way, my Guardian Angel was great about warning me when I would meet a law enforcement vehicle..never once failed. "Slow Down" I would hear; and within a mile there it was...LOL! Who knew that they would be concerned with that?
I'm pretty sure "she" is one of my Grandmothers, actually...for a variety of reasons.
