You are so right...They are much better today than 10-15 years ago when it was cookie cutter golfers...
Yeah, I really think that part of it is that this is basically the first generation of golfers who grew up hitting 460cc titanium drivers. I remember growing up with the wood-woods and all they ever taught was the smooth swing and hitting it "on the screws". Nowadays these guys know they can just blast the ball. The distances off the tee are stunning. I'll admit it - I wish I had had my current 460cc titanium driver with a stiff graphite shaft when I was 16 :^)

Seems like we’re barking up the same tree! I had a funny conversation with Ernie E one night about equipment. He thinks it’s a joke and blames it equally on the ball and the drivers.
I asked him if he would participate in an event w/ persimmon, forged blades, and balata and he said “In a heartbeat!”. Then he winked at me and said he’d win it as well.
