Miami Heat’s dream is coming to a crashing halt
Miami Herald ^ | 6/13/14 | Greg Cote

The Heat looks like a team out of answers, and worse, out of belief. The Heat looks like a team out of hope, and just about out of time.

Miami’s dream of a third straight NBA championship is expiring, and it is not doing so nobly, but rather wrapped in something uncomfortably close to embarrassment. This is not ending as much as it is crashing with the sound of something broken. Something shattering.

You heard booing in the downtown bayside arena Thursday night as the Heat was crushed 107-86 in a Game 4 Finals loss that put the Spurs in 3-1 command heading back to San Antonio.

A two-time defending champion chasing a three-peat, booed by its own fans, in its own building, in an NBA Finals. The booing was neither sustained nor loud, but you heard it, and it was a jarring sound, like heckling in church.

Miami must now make history to win this series and keep its budding dynasty intact. No team in league history has overcome a 3-1 Finals deficit to win. None. Not once. And the Heat must now win three games in a row – two in San Antonio – against a Spurs team that just dominated Miami at home for a second straight game.

Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who sat courtside, reportedly lost $2.6 million on Thursday night by betting on Miami to win.

“They smashed us,” said LeBron James.

“Whipped our butt,” said Dwyane Wade.

And it was too obvious to ignore that James came here from Cleveland to get away from the very situation that enveloped him Thursday night:

Being a superstar alone.

Having no help.

So you have doubts

And why not? Miami is a damn fine ball club.

Any endeavor worthwhile has it's risk. There is no glory without doubt.
Any fan that demands doubtless success is merely a fair weather friend.

That I have doubts makes me a true fan, and THE SPURS winners,
regardless of the score.

Having made clear what kind of fan you are partially explains why
the phoenix suns remain so shamefully embarrassing.

Professional dragon slaying calls me out of state, and away from FreeRepublic for the next few days. Along with arrogant attorneys, arguing with you remains one of the highlights of my week. Again, I will send you a big ole ping the next time THE SPURS win. Please..please stay in touch.

I hope that you, and yours, have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Yeah, it was a badly played ball. But even Brooks Robinson had three errors in one inning. I was just saying these kids just called up who don’t know how to throw it to the cut off man today seems more egregious to me, and more to your point.

Sperns turned off the A/C for Game 1 after giving their own players the heads up the night before. Heat had that game won until James went down with the heat related cramps.

Heat took Game 2 in San AnPhonio, so the Heat actually should have taken first two..... on the road.

Refs clamped down on the Heat starting right off in Game 3. Refs/NBA wanted a Western Conference type game. Lots of ticky tack fouls and more than the usual flopping by the Sperns.

Another tainted result, not worthy of being called a championship, just like 2007 when the crooked ref and Stern gave it to them and the strike shortened year in 1999.

If I were you I’d just slip away and keep quiet about it. Ya got nothing.

Let’s go Aztecs! Michael Cage is longer SDSU’s best player to succeed in the NBA.

SWEET! Not a huge NBA fan, but LOVE, L-O-V-E, the way the Spurs play.
