Coca-Cola is launching its first new drink in eight years: Coca-Cola Life.
Sporting a green label, the new drink is said to contain a third less calories and sugar, according to the Daily Mail.
It will be sweetened with sugar and stevia leaf extract and will only have 89 calories.
Despite the reduction of sugar and the green label (because adding a green label means its natural), Coca-Cola Life will still contain 25 percent of the amount of sugar a person should consume in one day in just one can. Coca-Cola said this new drink is part of an initiative for people to lead healthier lives.
According to Metro, Coca-Cola Life will pilot in Argentina and Chile and then be sold in the United Kingdom in September.

“You haven’t tried xylitol, have you? I use it, and can’t tell any taste difference from sugar.”
What will you do when one leg get’s shorter than the other in five years though?
(grin)
Where'd you come up with that?
Made with brown sugar?
The only use I have for Coke is to clean the toilet bowl.
The Cokes from Mexico are indeed superior to what we have here. I suspect they use real sugar in Mexico, and use something different here in the U.S. I also greatly enjoy the other sodas they produce, like the apple sodas. Luckily, I can buy some right here in South Texas without having to travel.
Stevia is still highly processed, and because of that it could be argued that real sugar is better for you than this stuff. In addition to the artificial flavors and colors, there is no “health” factor with this marketing gimmick.
18 yr Glenlivet about 5 calories
As a strict aside, please note that veterinarians have determined that xylitol is a powerful poison to dogs (perhaps cats, too, I just don't remember whether they are included). Don't let them sip it.
Stevia gives both Mrs. Catnipman and myself vicious headaches within minutes of consumption. We tried different bands and concentrations thinking perhaps it was a matter of contaminates or refinement. Same result in all cases: instant killer headaches. A bit of research shows such headaches are not an uncommon reaction to Stevia. Bad stuff in our book.
“perhaps cats, too, I just don’t remember whether they are included”
I googled it: equally toxic for cats, probably more so since the LD50 dose would so much smaller cats.
and if you are prone to migraine headaches, stay AWAY from Stevia.
Diet sodas made with aspartame/Nutrasweet lose their sweetness after a few months. I rarely drink sodas. I dump the expired ones in the toilet to clean it.
Mexican coke is much better than this garbage from America.
I quit sodas probably 15 years ago.
If they really want to get people excited and drive up sales all they have to do is put the coke back in Coke.
I like xylitol...but you don’t see it (in products) anywhere these days, so I simply forgot about it.
Aspartame seems to rule the roost.
Cleveland Coke is made with sugar. Always has been. You do have to check the labels still asnot all Coke sold is Cleveland comes from Cleveland.
