BTW on a net show,I watch...DIY Trying on Revision3.com the hosts made their own bacon. Looked really easy and yummy! Pork belly, pink salt. Wait a week then smoke it. Just might try that.
How do you smoke bacon in a apartment?? Oh - you go to your son’s house? Let us know how it turns out. Maybe I’ll get some pork belly at our local butchers and give it a try. Mr S would be in “hot heaven”! (snort!!!)
We take our bacon seriously around here. Last three trips to Sam’s Club, we bought three-lb boxes of bacon. Got about 8 lbs in the freezer. We don’t go through a pound very fast, so we’re good for quite awhile!
I’ve been thinking of making strawberry-rhubarb jam to start off my canning/freezing season. Got to keep the pantry and freezer stocked. It has helped keep us going as we’re trying to help son and his wife, and deal with this ‘booming economy’/sarc.
