It’s the same with some of the old pictures of sturgeons pulled from the Snake River with mule teams. Monsters, but at least gentle monsters.
Reminds me of the photos of alligator gar on the White River in 1950s Arkansas. Hook them, pull them in and shoot them in the head with a .38.
And I remember tales of the drowned child. Divers went down to find the body and came up quickly when they found the body in the mouth of a HUGE catfish. They would not go down again.
