Until “family court” is corrected and made a more equal grounds, I don’t blame young men one iota. They accept pretty much all the risk regardless if they mess up or if she decides she’s had enough and want’s an upgrade (no-fault divorce). I’m coaching my sons now not to even think about marriage in their 20’s and with today’s climate, 30’s might be pushing it. I am trying to teach them to get everything financially settled (home, good bit of retirement, no debt, paid off vehicles, etc..) before entertaining marriage so if she does leave for whatever reason, they are protected and won’t lose it all in family court (my state law is pretty strict about assets before marriage). Sad state of affairs today.
Yep. I tell my daughter to get married, and my son not to.

Get a prenup from a family law attorney that is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA).Tell them to NEVER marry without one. If she balks, she’s not the one. Its the best way to protect both parties and their future children whether they are married 5 days, 5 years, or 50 years.
don’t forget if your sons are well-off, PRE-NUP.
