Eloquently stated. Not something we really needed to know and will be forgotten on my part. Some things people really do not need to know but humans are strange creatures.
In the Garden of Eden there were two trees: The tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:9: The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the groundtrees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:17: And the LORD God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.
Notice God said you are free to eat of ANY tree except one, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. So what did man do? He screwed everything up and ate from the one tree he was told not to eat. The real question is not why he disobeyed God, which is a legitimate and important one, but why he did not eat of the tree of life, which was allowed, and which had no consequence of death, but eternal life?
I see part of that human nature in this thread.
Wellllllllllll
The man only ate of it because the woman told him to...
(Yes, ‘She made me do it!’ is quite literally the oldest excuse in The Book!)
“The real question is not why he disobeyed God, which is a legitimate and important one, but why he did not eat of the tree of life, which was allowed, and which had no consequence of death, but eternal life?”
Because of the woman?
Remember who ate the fruit FIRST, after being drawn in by the snake. She then drew Adam into her sin.
in the beginning there was but one law adam and eve had to obey.
just one.
they couldn’t do it.
