They may be small and cute, but packs of stray Chihuahuas have been wreaking havoc on the streets of Phoenix, Arizona.
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control says last year alone it received 6,000 calls from the Maryvale section of Phoenix about abandoned Chihuahuas roaming the streets in the neighborhood and scaring children.
We compared the number of calls we got in 2013 from that area to similar areas in town and the calls from Maryvale were three times higher than surrounding areas, said Melissa Gable with MCACC. Part of it is these animals arent spayed or neutered, so theyre out looking for a mate and are having babies, which also contributes to the problem.

not sure, aside that loud sonic bullets tend to tumble when transitioning to subsonic.
This is Sheriff Joe's jurisdiction and he does not tolerate animal abuse. They will be wearing pink underwear for a long time.
I can see the jokes now.....How many blondes does it take to unscrew a Chihuahua?
Testosterone poisoning is an ugly thing.
God forbid we next have a gang of rampaging garter snakes on the loose.
Flamethrowers will be bandied about.
That’s pretty much the face I see everyday when I wake up to go to work. Mean as hell, but I love’em.
Sounds about right. The pibbles I’ve seen are all mush...the chis are all nasty tempered little gits.
Still...it doesn’t take force to deter something the size of a chi. It’s so small you have many ways to deal with it that don’t require any harm.
That's like saying all half white presidents are narcissistic Marxist thugs. Don't lump them all together.
At least until that Great Dane gets tired of taking their crap...lol.
OK, every chichahua that I have encountered was a mean, ill-tempered beast! AND they DO have a reputation as mean, ill-tempered beasts! ;-)
Chihuahuas are really great dogs but they have big personalities. They are also sweet, loyal and very loving. Great watchdogs. They see and hear everything and they don’t eat much.
I’ve owned 2, knew quite a few more. The female was a sweet thing but ancient and sick when we got her..I still miss her. The male decided he was my mom’s dog and growled at me every time he saw me. Never mind that even as a 5’2” female I was many times his size, he was ready to take me on...poor silly beast.
I still never had to lift a hand to him, and it kinda baffles me that anyone would. She’d just tell him to “Go lay down!” in that tone of voice and he’d slink off.
Yes our dog is not mean as we would not allow it. We have worked with her to curb that natural tendency to chase bikes and joggers etc. They are just prone to do it. They are just feisty little dogs. But such great companions.
No.
the bad dog threads.
one of the main reasons i love freeps,
i have a poodle so we don’t get into these issues much. only thing they ever attack is the couch, for a nap......
also, there are a lot of coyotes and mountain lions around here, and no feral dogs....
try this, we use it on the ranch. does snakes and anything else out to 50 yards.

Many years ago, my ex used to take tourists on jeep tours through the desert areas around Phoenix. He grew up ranching in that desert and looked like a grizzled cowboy out of some western movie. He was also very good at telling stories. Anytime a dust devil stirred up a cloud of dust on the horizon he would mesmerize the tourists around the camp with his own “Terrifying True Story of the Desert Pirranha.”
Why on earth would I want to do that?
I’m not scared of snakes, so therefore have no reason to slaughter them.
