Some 30 years ago, the NBA championship was between the Boston Celtics and the LA Lakers. There was a game in Boston on a 95 degree day where the air conditioning couldn’t keep up, and it was a sweaty endurance contest that day, too.
I don’t think there was any air conditioning in the old Garden. If the Bruins went deep into the playoffs on humid days you couldn’t see the ice through the fog generated from the ice.
Another time on a humid day a Celtic game had to be postponed because the ice was “sweating” through the parquet and players were slipping all over the floor.
I do miss the old Garden though.
