Come to Wisconsin on a little vacay. Kohler (about 80 miles north of Milwaukee) has a design center with more than 100 vignette room displays of baths, kitchens, spas, as well as all of their products on display. The design center is open 364 days a year, free to the public. They sell NOTHING, but will provide catalogs for all of their products and will give you the names of dealers who can order them for you.
Even places like Lowes and home Depot can special order products that they normally do not carry, if you have the item number.
The Design Center has a “museum” in the basement where the history of the Kohler company is displayed. If I remember correctly, they started as a gravemaker company, making elaborate, cast iron crosses in Victorian days. They then branched out into plumbing fixtures and were the first American company to use color in their fixtures.
There is also a section where Kohler designers and artists display their own work created in their spare time using company tools.
The Kohler Design center is the best free attraction in SE Wisconsin. I go there just for fun.
I’m jealous. Maybe next time I visit family in Wisc. I’ll check it out. Sounds like an interesting place, thanks!
