On Volkswagens the one piece oval rear window was on the 1953 through 1957 models. Before that it was a two piece oval going back to the Nazi KdF-Wagen. In 1958 the rear window was widened to a rectangle shape & stayed mostly the same until the last Beetle with U.S. specs which was the 1977 model. They were assembled in Mexico & Brazil for years after that but that’s stopped, too.

I thought they continued on until 1979. The Super Beetle Convertible did, at least. My neighbors have one.

Mine was a bright red Convertible

The frame for the top...made of wood as I was to discover after leaving it open in the rain once too often. It warped and refused to close easily for the duration
