71 Camaro RS 350. Silver over black interior. First Camaro with 4 wheel disc brakes. Also had a turbo 400 trans.
Been seeing a lot of them in recent movies featuring that era.
Did the wing nut on the air filter housing work loose at highway speeds?

My dad fixed that - he replaced it with a lockwasher and a corresponding nut. I had to use a socket to take it off, but it worked. :)
I had the exact same car! I paid $400 for it in ‘87 and drove it for 4 years.
1970 Mach1 mustang. 4on the floor and factory 8 track on which I played my homemade Marshall Tucker and Allmann Bros which I made on my Teac 8 track recorder. These things are going for $50,000 nowdays.
The Corolla lasted 7 years, the following Renault only 4 (bad choice), the Mazda 626 lasted 7, the Camry 12, and the present Mazda CX7, which was an '07 bought in '11, is still with us, eleven payments remaining.

I had a ‘61 Sprite that I came to despise. It was always conning out, or would need to be pop started. Once it got going it was fun to drive. These days I drive an F150

I took my driving test on my parents’ 75 Nova hatchback—3 on the tree and no power steering. My first car date was in that car.

In the mid 70s, me and my buddies were literally counting down the days until we could get our permits. I think that the opportunity to take girls out and park was a big impetus. Kids today seem indifferent, as they are with moving out and getting their own place.

from my uncle for $800.It was a stick shift, which I had
never driven before.I got a quick lesson in a church parking lot, then drove about 15 miles home.
Mine was a Renault Dauphine.....crème colored....
Paid $100.00 and drove it away.
Not this exact one but looked just like it.

My first was a 1956 Volkswagen, ten years old when I got it for $300. In 1971 I was on my way to Vietnam with no place to store it, so I sold it. Regretted it ever since.
Now I drive a 2002 Chrysler minivan. How much do I love it? I hope I die before it does.
1987 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z28 (3rd Gen) - L98 5.7L TPI
I say this is the first car I actually owned because it lasted long enough for me to actually drive it. I did have a Camaro Berlinetta for a couple weeks prior to that but I crashed it into a tree, so I don’t count that one.
Car was purchased for me by my parents and because they were paying for everything I didn’t take care of it well. Burned multiple sets of Gatorback tires off it at around 1000 bucks per set and generally abused the heck out of it.
It’s a good lesson to parents everywhere, don’t just hand your kid an expensive sportscar that he/she has no financial or personal stake in. I still loved that car and miss it very much.
What is amazing is my current V6 sedan has considerably more horsepower than that Z28, but there is nothing like the torque and feel of a sportscar with a big V8 engine. I’d love to have that car back now, but I wrecked it as well and it burned to the ground.
Now that I can afford these things on my own I am looking to buy another 2nd or 3rd gen Camaro. Won’t be a daily driver of course, but I’d really like to get my hands on one anyway. That or a 2nd generation Trans-Am. Always loved the look and feel of the black “bandit” TA’s, even though they were severely limited HP wise.
