Free societies shouldn’t tolerate SWATs. They turn good cops into bad cops, and bad cops into terrorists. I’m sure the cops didn’t intend to grenade the baby, but once the adrenalin starts surging, and the group intensity takes over, all reason is turned off. SWAT cops become more dangerous than the drugs and thugs they are after, and they make mistakes. In fact, a good number of their terrorist activities turn out to be directed at wrong targets.
Indeed, these SWAT teams share much in common with the KKK. Their uniform provides anonymity. "Group think" behavior takes over.

It’s time to de-militarize the police and just take them back to walking a beat.
