Watch the Sci_Fi channel miniseries (Dune and Children of Dune). It's so much closer to the books.
Ditto. The chap who played the Baron in the miniseries, Ian McNeice, was much better than Kenneth McMillan from Lynch movie. Lynch's Baron was just too over the top. One gets to see James McAvoy as Leto Atreides II make his acting debut or close to it and can see what a great actor he would become.
