I have yet to see an intelligent take on this atrocity, from either side of the political spectrum. And I don’t have one myself, other than “mental illness is bad and we don’t do a good job in this country handling these extreme cases” which is not very helpful as a policy recommendation

Which is it Hollywood? You make movies that impact people, carry “important” messages, form public opinion OR, when it hits the fan, “our movies are just entertainment; we don't have any responsibility.”
