Looking for metal, I came across Aerosmith first-a song that suggests blues more to me than rock-

Come Here baby-
You know you drive me up a wall the way you make good on all the nasty tricks you pull
Seems like we’re makin’ up more than we’re makin’ love
And it always seems you got someone on your mind other than me
Girl, you got to change your crazy ways-you hear me?

Say you’re leavin’ on a seven thirty train and that you’re heading out to Hollywood
Girl you been givin’ me that line so many times it kinda gets like feelin’ bad looks good-

That kind of lovin’
Turns a man to a slave
That kind of lovin’
Sends a man right to his grave...

I go crazy, crazy, baby, I go crazy
You turn it on
Then you’re gone
Yeah you drive me
Crazy, crazy, crazy, for you baby
What can I do, honey
I feel like the color blue...

And no one else can do that shrieking falsetto quite like Tyler does...

Yeah, I always link to the FRee Dictionary because they include pronunciation with each word.

Let me rephrase that....the FRee Dictionary includes an audio link to hear each word pronounced. RME I knew what I meant, but it wasn’t clear.

That’s a power ballad, isn’t it?

One of my favs-I love blues-flavored ballads-they go right to the feelings. The first bluesy ballad I liked was one my mom and I sang along with the radio-Since I Fell for You by Lenny Welch...

I was half way watching/listening to a daily talk type show on the Hallmark channel and they had this young girl who has her own show on Nickelodian - I have no idea who she is or her name, but she sang for them and it was some awful thing she had written herself. She “sort of” rapped in it but her version was this super fast talking that sounded ridiculous. I don’t think it was dirty or anything like that - just not good. The song itself was pretty good - her singing was less than ok but the addition of the fast talking/rap was not even funny, it was stunningly bad

A music critic once defined rap as the lead singer shouting obscenities while the rest of the group throws a metal trash can down a flight of stairs and tortures a cat...

Like I said, just makes me want to crank up the metal even louder than I normally do...

He’s half her age for Pete’s sake! And a criminal! And she’s a dang judge!

That judge gives a new twist to the term “cougar”, doesn’t she? I’ve been taught to be non-judgmental in my former profession, and I usually am that way personally, too-but that situation would just make me want to yell are you f***ing nuts? at someone...

Love that song. I’ve been sitting here, teaching myself to play the mandolin. Anyone want to hear a grindingly slow version of Frere Jacques? Me neither, but you have to start somewhere. ;)

That’s punk, innif?

Rap doesn’t have that much creativity.

I think that is great! My next little gift to myself is going to be buying a simple, primitive flute and learning to play it-then we can both do awful things to Frere Jaques...

The cub was 1st chair flute in the HS band, so I have no intention of letting her find out about my attempts to play. She was very good with jazz, and was especially good with the flute part of Locomotive Breath.

Nah-he was talking about rap. I like punk-it is certainly more creative than rap...
